Set of 3 Murano Heavy Vases, Sommerso and Battuto, Aquamarine, Cenedese Style
$6,314.32per set

About
Sculptural group of three Sommerso vase. The inner color is a aquamarine framed by a massiccio body of clear glass.
Each vase is completely finished in horizontal battuto.
Great masterpieces with difficult technique, mixing the sfumato and the Sommerso.
Being squashed shape the trio is perfect for a console or an apron. Or a rectangular coffee table.
Battuto was a finish launched by Carlo Scarpa in 1940 at the legendary 22nd Biennale in 1940. It was a contemporary use of the art of chiseling glass. Since then, this technique is now part of the Murano vocabulary and finishes. Used by many artists like Vistosi or Tagliapietra, but also companies like Vivarini, Barovier or Stefano Toso.
The finish had a peak of popularity in the 1980 and 1990s. Uncertain attribution.
