About the Item

Set of 3 sand vases by Alice Reina Biancodichina Dimensions: Small 9,5 x H 28cm Medium 9,5 x H 31cm Large 9,5 x H 35cm. Materials: Limoges porcelain, pigment, glaze. Technique: Slab building technique. The “sand effect” is made of porcelain powder. Mass-colored porcelain adding black pigments. First fire 890 degrees. Second fire 1280 degrees. The outer surface of bisque porcelain is carefully sanded for a long time to obtain a smooth and silky feel to the touch. Inside, the black glaze ensures cleaning and maintenance. BIANCODICHINA is a contemporary ceramic studio founded by Alice Reina in 2015. Her work is inspired by the plastic properties of raw porcelain and it is drove by the curiosity to manipulate the material to its limits until reaching unexpected results. She creates objects whose shapes, transparency or surfaces finish makes us doubt their consistency or even about the materials they are made of. Her process of making is based on the use of thin sheets of porcelain or liquid porcelain; they allow her to create organic objects and detailed textures, always different. During the working process, Alice accepts, rather enhances, the anarchic nature of the material obtaining unpredictable outcomes. Her objects are characterized by fine forms that grow on the silky surface of the biscuit porcelain. The color, when there is, is obtained by natural pigments directly added to raw porcelain, later mixed and shaped into final objects. This is a long process that allows making unique and precious objects.
