SHAPING THE EARTH/ BORMIO II (ITA). Vase with soil and river sand
About the Item
DARE FORMA ALLA TERRA: un progetto trasversale che connette l'oggetto con il suo territorio ed il suo paesaggio. It is dressed in its colors and textures. Each object is made and dedicated to the place where the material from which it is made came from, partially or in its entirety. Rocce, argille e minerali raccolti da Elena Pelosi nell'ambito delle sue ricerche.
In this STONE FOREST SERIES of vessels, the value of time is also investigated in an inter-semiotic exchange between languages and materials: a fossil forest with recovered and collected lands, in close connection with the land and in memory of its history. This is a unique piece, made from a modular metal base with an organic-looking ceramic part-irregularly vaguely resembling a floral corolla, a blooming bud. Made of terracotta and brown refractory earth, engobed and coated with earth and river sand collected in the surroundings of the mountain resort of Bormio (SO) , Lombadria region-Italy, altitude about 2000m above sea level.
It is rough to the touch and earthy in appearance, speckled in relief with a grainy white sand.
SI FORNISCE CON CERTIFICAZIONE, timbrata e firmata. Con il pezzo viene fornito anche un sacchetto con la terra originale in esso contenuta.

Elena Pelosi
FUNCTIONAL ART OBJECTS “Engaging with art every day inspires and enriches our lives. Bring artwork into your daily routine with handcrafted ceramics and sculptural furniture that blur the line between form and function.”
Elena Pelosi has a strong passion about art, and her artistic work has been locally exhibited and included in private collections. She started using clay during her study in “Restoration of ceramic and glass” in Venice.
Her studies and her passion for multimedia, painting, chemistry, and photography are the roots of her interdisciplinary approach to design and love of materials. She carries out personal research on design and arts by traveling all around the world, studying different cultures, and raw materials, and realizing projects for residences, furnishings, collections, and decorations rich with cross-references. Some years ago, she resumed her exploration of ceramic and its potential. She focuses on an alchemical knowledge of natural materials and their reactions, in relation to philosophical ideas on transformation and regeneration,.
Thanks to a common passion for ceramics, a collab between a designer, Elena Pelosi, and a creative director, Luca Lanzoni, at the historical fornace Curti in Milan, leads to limited editions and events, in order to promote a modern approach to ceramic, among art, design and fashion. They called this project MADE IN FORNACE.
