About the Item

A Bronze Vase, chiseled and partially gilt bronze en relief decorated with grasshoppers and wheat axes. The best of French Art Nouveau, Christofle et Cie by Emilé Reiber, Paris 1970s. Emilé Reiber, 1826-1893. Stamped. Measures: 13.5 x 5 cm (base). Christofle in collaboration with Reiber, honoring Japonism for the Universal Exhibitions of Vienna in 1873 and Paris in 1878 inspired by works (decor and techniques) of the masters of the Japan. The models are bronze or copper encrusted with gold, silver, bronze and brass by galvanic processes and are patinated by a whole range of metal oxides. Japanese artists were even sent to Europe after 1873 to learn about the techniques used for these high quality creations.
