Turquoise Green Babà Sculptural Vase by Alice Crepaldi

About the Item

Turquoise Green Babà Sculptural Vase by Alice Crepaldi Unique Piece. Dimensions: Ø 24 x H 52 cm. Materials: Murano glass and metal. Adorned with a slightly shorter yet elegant stem, this ingabbiato vase uses the "sfumato" technique to blend azure and green hues. The verdant tone ascends the neck, merging with the azure blue like the sea. The Muranese ingabbiato technique involves blowing molten glass in a metal cage, enhancing movement. Slight variations may apply in the replica due to a handmade production process. Each metal cage is crafted by the artist herself and each glass blowing is executed individually by a master blower. Each artifact is unique: the height, the “fullness,” the cut, and the color shading depending on the exact moment the glass is blown inside the metal cage by the Master glassmaker. Alice Crepaldi is a versatile multidisciplinary artist hailing from Milan, Italy. Her artistic endeavors are deeply entrenched in the realms of functional art, sculpture, and furniture design. The harmonious blending integration of sculptural quality into everyday functional objects in her work owes much to her background in industrial design, followed by her transformative studies at the prestigious Central Saint Martin’s School of Art in London. Alice’s artistic vision is fueled by her fascination with the energy and movement of the human body and nature - elements she combines into unconventional and organic forms to craft dynamic and vibrant presences within space. With a primary focus on metal and glass, she strives to elevate functional objects to realms of contemplation by pushing the boundaries of traditional techniques while infusing them with a contemporary twist. Through her creations, Alice beckons viewers to explore objects, to fall in love with them, to imbue them with value, and to be enthralled by an idea of movement and uniqueness that reflects our true nature as human beings.
