Vase Apple Designed by Ingeborg Lundin for Orrefors Sweden, 1955 Large Orrefors 'The Apple' EXPO vase, designed by Ingeborg Lundin, Sweden, 1955, free-blown colorless glass with yellow overlay. The apple vases were difficult to produce and required exceptional skills from the glassblower. This piece dates from 1957 and is signed with: Orrefors EXPO 32-57 Ingeborg Lundin”. An iconic piece of Scandinavian glass design from the middle of the century. Measures: Height: 14.37" (36.5 cm) Diameter: 12.2" (31 cm) Ingeborg Lundin (1921-1992) was the first female Swedish artglass desginer working for Orrefors. She became known with her designs for cutted and EXPO glasses and designed also in the 'Ariel technique', named after Shakespeare's air spirit Ariel from his last play 'The Tempest'. Simple elegance and functional simplicity are the characteristics for the iconic 'The Apple' Vase from 1955.
