About the Item
Ashtray from the Byzantine series made by the A.VE.M. glassworks.
The Byzantine series called ALL FRUITS by collectors was made by A.VE.M. in the 1950s.
These works are all one-of-a-kind pieces as inclusions of endless elements, zanfirico, aventurine, filigree, and colored and silver straws are added to the blown glass, creating an explosion of color and movement.
This particular ashtray has dark blue as its base color.
Each vase in the series is a Murano masterpiece to be explored and discovered in its entirety.
A.VE.M. acronym for Arte Vetraria Murano was founded in 1932 by Antonio Ferro, with his sons Egidio and Ottone, Galliano Ferro and Emilio Nason.
The vase has the Murano manufactures label but no signature as it is original to the period and not later.
It is in very good conservative condition, shows as per the photo some microscopic chipping on the edge of the base, practically invisible at a first glance.
