About

The beautiful province of Vallauris, on the French Riviera, has long been famous for its ancestral manufacture of ceramics. And it was here that Louis Giraud established his workshop and shop in 1930--here where he designed and manufactured pieces of a peculiar, contemporary beauty. Giraud (1897-1985) is perhaps the most famous ceramist to come out of Vallauris, creating its most celebrated pieces during the 1930s, 1940s--and into the early 1950s.

From this period comes this beautiful, heavy vase made of glazed ceramic, with its handles in the form of curls so starkly contrasting with the simplicity of the lines of the container. Signed piece in pristine condition that still retains its original label.

Vase without the handles: 6.7".
