About the Item
Stunning massive hand hammered copper vase.
Tsuiki Copperware is a traditional Japanese craft .
Tsuiki Is a metal working technique that is derived from the words ' Hammer ' and 'raise'
A variety of tools are used to create hammered copperware, as well as dozens of types of toriguchi (iron rods) .
Rather than stretching the copper by hitting it, it contracts while hitting it.
Once struck, copper becomes hard, so during production, the copperware is placed in a furnace to soften it.
Finally, coloring is applied and the craftsman's many skills are woven into the finished product.
Dimensions: W.44/33.5cm , H.71cm (Dim 17.3 x 13.2 x H.27.9inch),
Weight : 8.3 (18.3lb).
Good condition with some minor abrasions due to the age .

Contemporary Japanese Cloissoné Copper Vessel Shippo Vase by Yochiya Studio
By Yochiya
Located in Amsterdam, NL
Yochiya explore the untapped possibilities of cloisonné by combining improvisational and serendipitous modern techniques such as welding and hydraulic pressure, rather than relying solely on traditional techniques. Sculpting as if drawing, and embracing the accidental moments that arise, led to many fascinating discoveries.
Cloisonné ware is a craft in which a glassy glaze is applied to silver or copper and enclosed into the small sections separated by a wire.
