Impressive Mid-Century Modern large Murano Cenedese Scavo Cartoccio vase
One of the most impressive vases offered by Cenedese, Italy, this big and beautiful vase is realized in multiple techniques: cartoccio, incalmo and a scavo finished surface. Signed to the bottom.
Original manufacturer label.
Scavo means 'dug up' and imitates ancient objects in the form and texture to those found in archaeological excavations.
Alfredo Barbini and Cenedese invented this technique in the 50s. Later, in the 70s, the technique was taken up by Seguso Vetri d'Arte in a series that was designed by Giovanni Patrini.
Dimensions: Height 29 cm (11.42 in.), diameter 28 cm (11.02 in.).
