Very Rare Japanese Antique Pottery Small Jar/1200-1400/Beautiful Natural Glaze

About the Item

This is a pot made in the Kamakura period, which is older than the Edo period in Japan, and is called Echizen ware. Echizen is a historical kiln located in Fukui Prefecture, Japan. (The Echizen kiln is marked with a red circle on the map.) It is said to have originated around the 9th century. In Japan, there are 6 historical kilns that are still in operation. One of them. A beautiful emerald green glaze is applied, but this is a natural glaze. The ash from the kiln is poured into this pot and melted at high temperatures to create this beautiful emerald green. This is not the result of human intervention, so no two are the same. Especially this is miraculously a very beautiful scenery. The tip of the vase is missing, but it's also cool. Pots from the Kamakura period are basically few in number and rare. What's more, it's rare to find something as beautiful as this item. Highly recommended. Weight: 2.75kg Also, as a reference, a similar item from the same era as this item was listed in the Japanese art book "Echizen Ware Masterpiece Encyclopedia", so I am attaching a photo. • Rare Japanese Antique Pottery Vase / Beautiful Natural Glazed Jar/1573-1603
    Located in Sammu-shi, Chiba
It is "Shigaraki ware". Shigaraki is a historical kiln located in Shiga Prefecture, Japan. It is said to have originated in the 8th century. In Japan, there are 6 historical kilns that are still in operation. One of them. This is a vase made around 1573-1603. We often see jars like this in Shigaraki ware, but vases with a lot of natural glaze like this are very rare. Not all jars are in this state, and this phenomenon occurs due to the overlap of various factors such as the place where the pottery is placed in the pot, the force and temperature of the flame, the direction of the wind, etc. . In particular, this one has a lot of burnt ash sticking to it on one side, giving it a lava-like surface, and the other side has melted ash, and the glassy natural glaze draws beautiful lines and hangs down. This is truly an art of nature...
