About the Item

Midcentury ceramic flower vase (circa 1960s) by Michel Barbier. A tall single-flower vase with stylized bird and plant life motif over an off-white elegant glaze with brown touches randomly scattered over the body. The colors are understated and elegant. Overall in very good vintage condition. Maker's mark in the form of Barbier's stylized bird appears on the underside of the ceramic. There are many photos accompanying the listing. Upon request a video may be provided. About the artist: Michel Barbier (1933-2012), was ceramic decorator in Vallauris, France, for Gustave Reynaud's Le Mûrier, along with Jean Derval, Reynaud's brother-in-law who designed production models. Barbier's pieces sported stylised birds and foliage which were the most common themes both for utilitarian and for exhibition pieces in which abstract motifs were also employed.
