About the Item

Rare scavo glass vase, 18” tall x 8.5” diameter signed Cenedese. Violet color glass has a scavo glass body. "Scavo" in the context of Murano glass refers to a technique that gives glass a subtly weathered or antique appearance, resembling objects unearthed from an archaeological excavation. Cenedese & Co. was founded by Gino Cenedese. In 1947, Gino was joined by Alfredo Barbini. Following Barbini's departure, Gino used freelance designers, which included, Fulvio Bianconi, Riccardo Licata and Napoleone Martinuzzi.
