Wheel Thrown Moon Jar by Jason Fox

About the Item

Wheel Thrown Moon Jar by Jason Fox. Largely influenced by Korean Pottery, American contemporary ceramic artist Jason Fox pays respect to the rich history of Moon Jars with this piece. "Moon Jars are magical! They are my absolute favorite thing to make and each one has such a unique presence and personality. Every major room should have at least one. I could stare at them all day long..." This moon jar was thrown on the wheel with a light brown stoneware. After drying to a leather hard the shape is further refined by trimming and then allowed to finish drying. The piece was bisque fired, glazed and then fired one last time over two thousand degrees in a reduction gas kiln. After cooling the moon jar's foot is sanded on the bottom til smooth. A truly unique piece handmade by Jason Fox in Los Angeles that can be used functionally as a vase or as an accent piece for any modern decor.
