Wheel Thrown Moon Jar by Jason Fox
About the Item
Satin White Wheel Thrown Moon Jar by Jason Fox.
Largely influenced by Korean Pottery, Jason pays respect to the rich history of Moon Jars with this piece.
"Moon Jars are magical! They are my absolute favorite thing to make and each one has such a unique presence and personality. Every major room should have at least one. I could stare at them all day long..."
This moon jar was thrown on the wheel with a light brown stoneware. After drying to a leather hard the shape is further refined by trimming and then allowed to finish drying. The piece was bisque fired, glazed and then fired one last time over two thousand degrees in a reduction gas kiln. After cooling the moon jar's foot is sanded on the bottom til smooth.
A truly unique piece handmade by Jason Fox in Los Angeles that can be used functionally as a vase or as an accent piece for any modern decor.

Jason Fox Ceramics
A Southern Californian for over half his life, Contemporary Ceramic Artist Jason Fox draws upon his classical education in Architecture and Art History as well as his love of surfing and the ocean. He works organically letting the imperfections and unique delicate qualities of the clay and materials stand front and center. "Each handmade vessel has a very individual personality. I want to let these personalities shine and enrich your lives as you encounter them though out your days." Jason's work is a result of his endless explorations with clay and his affinity for the Korean Masters. Forever following his curiosities the work has organically become a physical journal of his conversations with craft, form and ornamentation.
