About the Item

Designed by the acclaimed French modernist Jacques Adnet (1901–1984), this striking desk accessory exemplifies his iconic blend of luxury and functionality. The set was expertly crafted in France circa 1950. Fashioned from molded glass with inside frosted finish and wrapped in Adnet's signature hand-stitched dark green leather, the piece serves as an ashtray, catchall, or desk tidy with timeless elegance. Its original matching pestle—also accented with the same fine grain leather—remains intact, highlighting the meticulous craftsmanship and attention to detail. While no designer's mark is visible, the distinctive design elements speak unmistakably to Adnet's celebrated aesthetic, making it a sophisticated addition to any refined private interior or collector's ensemble. Dimensions: Ashtray: 4.75 in wide (12 cm) by 4.75 in deep (12 cm) by 2 in high (5 cm). Pestle: 1.38 in wide (3.5 cm) by 1.38 in deep (3.5 cm) by 5.13 in high (13 cm).
