20th Century Italian Solid Silver Set of 6 Vodka Beakers
About the Item
20th century Italian solid 800 silver set of 6 vodka beakers,
copy of Russian vodka beakers made in Moscow at the end of 1600.
The originals are in the Baldwin collection in London.
The Baldwin collection is arguably the largest collection of Individual Vodkas Beakers in the world.
In fact, it includes over 250 specimens made mostly in Moscow between the 16th and 18th centuries
At that time it was customary to go to friends or acquaintances with their own personal vodka beakers.
The Baroque-style beakers were made entirely by hand in Italy in Milan by the silversmith Fiorentini.
The body is completely embossed with scroll motifs in the upper band and with a chiseled and fluted design in the lower part.
The handle, again with a baroque design, was made in fusion and finished with chisel.
The inside of the glass has been embellished with a thick 24kt gold plating.
