About the Item

Antique English "Samuel Henshall" Patented Turned Ox Bone Corkscrew, Circa 1890's. The first to patent a corkscrew in 1795, Reverend Samuel Henshall designed and produced a button between the shank and the worm that stopped the worm from going down too far. His invention became immensely popular and his patented corkscrews were made throughout the 19th and 20th centuries.
