About the Item
Very beautiful carafe, pitcher, jug, in crystal and pewter. Nice work of crystal and pewter. This carafe brings a touch of French elegance to the table decoration. Ideal for decanting and serving wine or liquor. The decanter is in the shape of a duck. Very beautiful and elegant representation of the animal. The handle, spout and base are made of polished pewter. The body is in crystal. This decanter, serving carafe is stamped with hallmarks attesting to the quality of the pewter. The hallmarks are ineligible but the 95% is legible. It is made of Crystal and 95% pure pewter. It was made in France according to a unique know-how resulting from several generations of pewter potters. Circa 1930 - France The decanter is used most often for wines with sediment, often old wines. The so-called "duck" carafe, in reference to its elongated shape which recalls the silhouette of the bird, promotes the transfer of the wine by avoiding putting the deposit back in decanter..
