About the Item

Glass factory de Rupel, boom, Belgium. Gold Decoration. Set with a decanter and 5 matching glasses and a serving tray. Dimensions: decanter height 20 cm 7.87 inch width 12 cm 4.72 inch. Dimensions: liqueur glass height 6 cm 2.36 inch width 5 cm 1.96 inch Dimensions: serving tray length 37 cm 14.56 inch width 24 cm 9.44 inch. De Rupel glassworks started production in 1925 in Boom, a small village between Brussels and Antwerp in Belgium. The increasing success of the Val-St-Lambert factory was encouraging, and orders for hand blown and semi-automatic-made beer glasses were enough to keep the small factory busy. They were the producers of the distinctive and iconic Duvel beer glass. In 1935 the company hired Paul Heller (1914-1995) as chief designer and briefed him to produce decorative glassware. Heller's family came from Bohemia, and Paul, like his father, was working for the Nouvelles factory in management before taking over at boom and launching a large number of successful ranges. Please don't hesitate to get in touch with any further questions.

 With best wishes Geert Niessen
