Bernasconi Italy Art Deco Sterling Silver Barware Cocktail Champagne Stirrers
About the Item
This beautiful Italian Art Deco sterling silver barware set, champagne, or cocktail stirrers, was manufactured by renowned silversmith B. Bernasconi, Milan, at his silverware store in Via Manzoni, circa 1940. The set is built with six sterling silver arrow-shaped stirrers and swizzle sticks stored on a sterling silver holder. Modernist and minimalist shape, with refinement and typical Art Deco style. Marked underside with legal hallmarks. The hallmarks are engraved under the base and read 925 - Clover logo - silversmith serial number - silversmith name in block letters.
The cocktail set is in excellent condition, with no pronounced signs of wear.
Measurements:
Overall: 3.38 in diameter (8.5 cm) x 6.32 in high (16 cm).
Stirrers are 4.32 in long (11 cm).
Note: Bernasconi was established in 1872 as a workshop of handmade silver products in the center of Milan. In 1924, for the highest quality in the manufacturing of products, the King of Italy, Vittorio Emanuele III, bestowed Bernasconi with the right to inscribe the royal coat-of-arms with the inscription "Royal Household Patent" on the products made. Bernasconi became one of the official suppliers of the Royal Household Savoy ("Fornitore Della Real Casa"). In the early years of this century, the Municipality of Milan awarded Bernasconi the honor of Historic Store ("Negozio Storico"). The regional institution of Lombardy awarded Bernasconi the prestige of a historical and traditional emblem ("Insegna Storica e di Tradizione"). These distinctions recognize the Bernasconi company as a place of memory, heritage of professionalism, and tradition transmitted from generation to generation.
