Notes: Maison Desny (1927 - 1933)
The firm of Maison Desny was located at Avenue des Champs Elysées in Paris from 1927 to 1933 and was established by M. Maudy and Mr Desnat, both of whom formerly worked as set designers in the circus. During its brief history, Maison Desny created complete interiors for a select clientele, designing furniture, murals, rugs, lighting and decorative objects in a strikingly refined and geometric modernist vocabulary, often exploring the juxtapositions of right angles and flat surfaces. They collaborated with designers Robert Mallet Stevens, Djo Bourgeois, Jean Michel Frank, Alberto and Diego Giacometi and André Masson.
