About the Item

Founded in 1829 by Zadig Levin and Louis Saling Friedländer, during the reign of Wilhelm I, the company became court jeweler for the Empress and Queen, the Crown Prince and Princess Luise of Prussia. In 1939, under the 'Aryanization' (Arisierung) of Jewish properties, Friedländer was forcibly transferred to the Prussian State and the company was renamed Deutsche Goldschmiedekunst-Werkstätten.
