Friedländer Set of 12 German Hammered Silver Cups in Art Deco Style

About the Item

Set of 12 Friedlander, German silver cups, beautifully hand-hammered, and in Art Deco style, with an elegant, geometric design, standing on 3 balled feet, from the early 20th century. With 12 removable glass inserts, they are gilt inside and measure 2 1/2'' in height by 2 5/8'' in diameter at the top. Silver weight is 33.5 troy ounces. Hallmarks are shown. Founded in 1829 by Zadig Levin and Louis Saling Friedländer, during the reign of Wilhelm I, the company became court jeweler for the Empress and Queen, the Crown Prince and Princess Luise of Prussia. In 1939, under the 'Aryanization' (Arisierung) of Jewish properties, Friedländer was forcibly transferred to the Prussian State and the company was renamed Deutsche Goldschmiedekunst-Werkstätten.
