About the Item

A Mid-Century large serving bowl in the Regalia pattern by Georges Briard, first shown in their 1960 catalogue. Georges Briard created award-winning designs for items including glasses, trays, coffeepots and dishes in materials like glass, ceramics, metal, wood, and gold-plated serveware. His serveware was especially popular from the 1950s to ’70s. It was produced by companies including Culver, Pfaltzgraff and Medina Glass and sold at high-end department stores like Neiman Marcus and Bonwit Teller. Briard’s designs were found in the homes of the most fashionable hosts of the mid-century. Today, they are highly prized by collectors. A 24 karat gold pattern showing regal medallions of a central crown surrounded by a geometric sun-like array, reminiscent of Louis XIV. The medallions are separated by linear rays, on transparent glass. The same pattern rims the base. A tapered body with a heavy bottom. Weighty. With the Georges Briard signature. 11 inches top diameter tapering down to a base of 5 inches x 5.75 in. High In remarkable condition – without the expected gold loss often seen on these pieces.
