About the Item
A sculptural mid-century pineapple ice bucket in solid brass, produced in Europe between the 1960s and 1970s. The piece is crafted from spun brass with a finely engraved cross-hatched pattern that creates the classic pineapple texture. The removable lid is crowned with hand-cut, tiered brass leaves soldered to a central stem — each leaf individually shaped and polished, showing the slight variations characteristic of hand craftsmanship.
The surface displays an attractive two-tone patina: the body retains its original aged lacquer and deeper golden-bronze tone, while the top has been lightly polished over time, revealing a brighter finish as well as a small natural oxidation mark. Together, they lend the piece a sense of depth and authenticity that enhances its sculptural presence.
This model belongs to the wave of decorative pineapple barware that swept through European interiors in the late 1960s and early 1970s — a hallmark of the Hollywood Regency taste for gleaming metallic finishes and playful tropical motifs. Similar examples were sold through Italian and French retailers of the era, including Michel Dartois, Paris, though this example is unmarked.
The interior is unlined, suitable for use as an ice bucket, a lidded container, or a decorative accent. The brass retains a warm vintage patina with gentle wear consistent with age.

View AllCharles Catteau Art Deco Pineapple Table Lamp with New Ikat Silk Shade, 1920s
By Boch Freres Keramis, Charles Catteau
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
Lovingly handcrafted by Amitābha Studio in Amsterdam from an antique Boch Frères Keramis vase (Model 1118, circa 1920–1930) designed by Charles Catteau, this one-of-a-kind table lamp transforms the iconic Art Deco “pineapple” vase. We’ve paired the vase base with a new bespoke hand-pleated lampshade made from hand-woven, hand-dyed Ikat cotton-silk fabric crafted on traditional Uzbek looms. We’ve also added a matching green cord. The lamp was created without harming the original vase in any way.
This ceramic vase—commonly referred to as the pineapple vase—was produced by Boch Frères Keramis in La Louvière, Belgium between 1920 and 1930. Designed by Charles Catteau, the vase features a repeating geometric relief pattern molded into its ovoid form and finished with a fine ivory craquelure glaze. Known as Model 1118 in the Boch Frères catalog, it reflects Catteau’s Art Deco vocabulary: bold geometry, stylized natural references, and technical innovation in glazing.

Sculptural Hand-Blown Glass Table Lamp, Murano Style, 1970s
By Vetri, AVMazzega
Located in AMSTERDAM, NL
Sculptural mid-century table lamp in thick hand-blown lead glass. The organically tooled form combines clear glass with a soft mauve layer, its irregular surface alive with bubbles and texture that catch and diffuse the light. In full working order.
Likely produced in Mallorca during the 1960s–70s by a workshop such as Gordiola or Lafiore, this piece reflects the Mediterranean dialogue with Murano glassmaking—absorbing influences like textured rugiadoso finishes while asserting a bolder, more brutalist sensibility.
A delicate mauve layer echos the Italian Murano glass sommerso technique while carrying the unmistakable weight and luminosity of Mallorcan lead glass. When illuminated, the lamp emits a warm, diffused light that feels both atmospheric and sculptural.
Its open-backed form, retaining original continental wiring and inline switch, speaks to mid-century functionalism while serving as a luminous piece of glass art.
