About the Item

Jacob Eiler Bang for Holmegaard, Karaffel, Snapsekone, Female Decanter  Denmark, circa 1930 This exceptional Art Deco glass decanter, designed by Jacob Eiler Bang for Holmegaard around 1930, is a museum-worthy piece that captures the essence of early 20th-century design. Bang, whose talent was first recognized at the 1925 Paris Exhibition, was invited by Holmegaard's director, K. Riis-Hansen, to join the renowned glassworks. His work, influenced by the Bauhaus and Wiener Werkstätte design schools, showcases his innovative approach to glass art. The "Snapsekone" decanter is a playful yet sophisticated piece, featuring a female figure with her hands on her hips, rendered in vibrant enameled clear glass. The caricatured design is both whimsical and striking, making it a standout example of Art Deco /Moderne style. The decanter is 10.5 inches high, 4.5 inches wide, and 3 inches deep, with a removable head stopper that adds to its charm and functionality. This piece is not only a stunning display of workmanship but also a functional item ready to be used and admired in any setting.
