Machine Age Art Deco Nudawn Van Doren & Rideout Stemware set for National Silver, circa 1933.
Modernist Streamline Industrial Design
Early set of six Machine Age cordials and three goblets in Nudawn pattern designed by Harold Van Doren and John Gordon Rideout.
Plaskon was a proprietary GE phenolic, similar to bakelite and catalin, employed by VD and Rideout is several streamline consumer and commercial product re-designs in the 1930s-1940s.
Excellent ribbed and stepped design.
Plated metal stems. Fully signed.
Featured in Toledo Museum of Art permanent collection and pictured in "The Alliance of Art and Industry, Toledo Designs For a Modern America." p. 141.
Very good condition.
