About the Item

Extremely rare set of glass goblets. The cup and foot base are in cobalt blue. This style of cup is what was considered a Champagne glass in the 50s and 60s. There is a complex baroque motif connected to the blown stem of each glass. Every part of the stem is embedded with has 24K gold leaf. The glasses are completely hand made. The full set includes 12 glasses. Each is large enough to be considered a small vase. An incredible find. There was a reason this shallow round bowl shape was intended to be used for Champagne, it was in order to feel the sparkling sensation on the nose, and the bouquet. Today it would also serve a martini, or even be used as a gelato cup. The style and the shape leads me to think they were made in the 50s. Although, Cobalt blue was very popular in the 80s. Signed, one carries the Maestri Muranesi label. Maestri Muranesi was a brand of Amelio Cenedese. One of the best glass furnaces located in Murano on a small island that was created in the centuries with the glass production waste, Isola Serenella. The glasses are completely hand made. The glass is in pristine condition. Apparently never used. Unique
