19th century English tantalus set in a rare petite size. A tantalus is a decorative container, typically made of wood and metal. designed to securely hold and display glass & crystal decanters. This set consists of: 1. Three cut-glass decanters with intricately faceted designs and matching crystal stoppers. 2. Wooden oak frame that is beautifully polished. 3. The set is fitted with metal components, including decorative corner brackets and a handle on top. It also features a lock mechanism (and original key), a characteristic of tantalus sets, designed to secure the decanters. These sets were popular during the Victorian & Edwardian eras and often used to store spirits of fine liquors in a stylish and secure manner.
