An exceptional, fine and impressive antique Victorian sterling silver parcel gilt goblet; an addition to our London silver wine and drinks related silverware collection.
This exceptional antique Victorian London sterling silver goblet has a circular bell-shaped form onto a knopped pedestal and circular spreading foot.
The body of this impressive antique silver goblet is encompassed with a gilt band of engraved fret decoration.
The impressive pedestal features a tiered knop to the centre, accented with further gilding.
The circular spreading foot is embellished with a further engraved Greek key band, replicating that to the body.
This sterling silver goblet retains the original gilding to the interior and decoration to the surface.
The underside of the goblet bears the retailer's mark 'W.Best, Wimpole St'; this is located on a famous street of London.
This exceptional goblet, crafted by the renowned and important silversmith George Fox, is the finest of its type you could hope to acquire.

This antique 1870s silver gilt goblet is a superior gauge of silver, exceptional quality and in exceptional condition.
The engraved decoration is all very crisp and the original gilding is in excellent condition; this indicates the piece has seen little to no use.

This exceptional antique Victorian sterling silver gilt goblet has a circular bulbous-shaped form onto a swept pedestal and circular spreading foot. The body of this impressive antique silver goblet is encompassed with a central band of chased and engraved scrolling foliate and floral decoration, incorporating swan and vase ornamentation, all on a matte background. The decoration to the body incorporates an impressive cartouche displaying the contemporary bright cut engraved crest depicting between two arms embowed a sun in splendour. The cylindrical upper rim is encompassed with further scrolling leaf decoration, flanked with an applied dart decorated border to the nadir and a moulded border to the rim. The cast silver waisted pedestal features a spiralling bead design, incorporating scrolling motifs to the upper portion, replicating the details of an architectural column. The circular spreading foot is embellished with impressive cast figural mask designs alternating with layered leaf motifs, all ornamented with further bead decoration.
