Watrous for International Sterling Silver Flask in Art Deco Style Early 20th C

About the Item

Watrous for International Sterling, sterling silver flask from the early 20th century and in Art Deco style, with an elegant, geometric design. It measures 7 1/4'' in height by 4 1/3'' in width by 2/3'' in depth, contains 3/4 of a pint, weighs 7.4 troy ounces (230 grams), and bears hallmarks and a monogram as shown. Watrous was a silversmith founded in 1896 in Wallingford, Connecticut. Some of its pieces are in museum collections, including the Yale University Art Gallery. At the beginning, the company’s principal product was German Silver spoon blanks. After 1898, Watrous Mfg. Co. became part of the International Silver Company, and the company added smaller articles and novelties to their lines. The International Silver Company was formed in 1898 by various independent New England silversmiths that, between 1898 and 1903, joined themselves together to form a company that became the world's largest manufacturer of silverware. The International Silver Co. was organized with an authorized capital of $20,000,000. Please feel free to ask us any questions, and please see our other listings. We hand polish all items before shipping them out, but if there is interest for a professional polishing and/or engraving removal, we can take care of that for an additional charge and with delayed shipping.
