About the Item
This Wiskemann modernist silver plate ice bucket or cooler is an exquisite piece of midcentury barware. Crafted by silversmith Wiskemann, Belgium, its elegant design features a trapezoidal structure and waved opening, providing a refined and sophisticated aesthetic. This piece is complete with large ear-shaped handles for easy and safe handling. The bucket is marked underside with the silversmith hallmarks and legal stamp for authenticity.
Perfect for any wine or champagne connoisseur, the cooler is also a beautiful addition to any modernist home.
The ice bucket is in good condition, with some signs of wear and tear, as expected from previous use, with minor micro-scratches that do not significantly affect its overall appearance.
Measurements: 8.69 in wide (22 cm) x 7.07 in deep (18 cm) x 9.25 in high (23.5 cm) - container diameter is 7.07 in (18 cm).
Note: Otto-Léonard Wiskemann (1852 - 1909) set up a business in the heart of Brussels in 1872 and specialized in producing silver-plated items for the hotel and catering industry. After his death, his sons Otto (1946 - ) and Albin (1950 - ) took over the business and expanded it considerably. They opened new production facilities in Zurich and Milan and sales outlets in Antwerp, Brussels, Ghent, Nice, Bruges, Liege, and Paris.
