About the Item
A pair of Elkington & Company lidded confitures
The silver plated vases bear to the underside, Elkington & Co marks, and the date letter for 1873. The circular bases rise on three spun feet, having three tritons blowing on conch shells set about central columns; the ovoid lidded bodies are decorated with tracery, have inlets for spoons and are surmounted by models of the young Poseidon, holding tridents.
