Eva Zeisel Midcentury Bird Covered Serving Bowl for Schmid, NKT and Raymor


A large and whimsical midcentury covered serving bowl or casserole designed by Eva Zeisel (1906-2011) for Schmid International in the 'Lyric' pattern featuring an abstract black linear pattern against a warm white ground. The bird-shaped duck or goose was manufactured in Matto City, Japan by NKT (Nihon Koshitsu Toki Co., Ltd.) for Schmid and distributed by Raymor (Richard Morgenthau & Co.) in 1964. The line was discontinued in 1965. The bowl is is described as a two quart casserole and one of the larger pieces Zeisel designed for the line, measuring 8 in. H x 9.5 in. L x 8 in. W. The bowl and lid are each in very good, undamaged condition, marked Ironstone design by Eva Zeisel, Schmid NKT, Oven Proof, Japan on base.
