About the Item
Jardinière in vetro molato e inciso all’acido (vetro “cammeo”), decorata da libellula e ninfee in fiore. Firma ad acido “Gallé” su uno dei due lati corti.
Pioniere dell’Art Nouveau e fondatore dell’École de Nancy, Émile Gallé (1846-1904) è stato un maestro del vetro e designer geniale. Negli anni ’90 dell’Ottocento iniziò la produzione dei vasi in vetro “cammeo”, ottenuto tramite incisione ad acido, categoria nella quale rientra anche il nostro esemplare. Questi è riconducibile, sulla base della firma, al periodo compreso fra il 1906 e il 1914, anni immediatamente successivi alla morte del maestro. Per quanto riguarda i decori, ritraenti una libellula in volo sopra uno specchio d’acqua con ninfee e canne lacustri, possono essere identificati come uno dei temi ornamentali caratteristici della produzione di Gallé, facenti parte di quel gusto orientale tanto amato dall’artista.
