About the Item

This unusual Belgian piece has the hallmarks of Belgian Art Deco and combines a glass gateau plate in a wrought iron carrier, the glass comes from an almost unknown factory, Pavillons de Beignee, who produced it between 1935 and 1940. The recently identified design is derived from Classic Art Deco motifs in geometric arrangement and has a gently ruffled edge (also guiding the hand to cut eight precise slices). The separate handmade wrought iron carrier is measured to exactly secure the plate without any risk of slippage. It has been further embellished with a few black metal leaves and sprigs to soften the lines and create a practical yet unobtrusive centerpiece for cake at your afternoon tea table in Art Deco style. Also a good flat base for a centerpiece flower-arrangement The glass part is marked 'Pavillons - Made In Belgium'. The iron work is unmarked. Both items are in fine condition with only the faintest signs of use.
