Arrigo Finzi Art Deco centerpiece - Design By Futurist Architect Sant'Elia Antonio Milan 1938 - 1943 Wonderful silver centerpiece Fountain like and octagon shaped embossed by hand. In the middle a sculpture of a woman standing on dolphin (she recalls one of the Joseph Lorenzl Dancers). On the sides engraved dolphins. Excellent manufacture. Arrigo Finzi is one of the best silvesrmith of his time. Realized between 1938 and 1943 it reports the Sant'Elia signature which was a registered trademark owned by Arrigo Finzi.( Sant'Elia was a futurist italian architect from Milan who designed various objects and projects for Arrigo Finzi – Unfortunately Sant'Elia died during WWI) It also reports the specific silver maker mark “Soc. An. Le Argenterie D'Italia” 311MI ( Silverware Anonymous society of Italy) which Finzi had to create to hide himself and his name from the racial laws of December 1938. (before that he was using just his signature engraved on the objects) He kept working in his lab until late 1943 when he left for hiding. This sad event tells us that the piece was realized in a very particular and determined period of time. After the end of the war he changed that name and used hi real one as we know it today “Arrigo Finzi” 365MI – with the old pre-war signature.
