Putrella is a table centrepiece made from a semi-finished industrial product. Its archetypal form and expressive force is a prime example of Enzo Mari’s work. The piece is made of iron with transparent varnish and is produced in a limited edition of 100 pieces per year. Enzo Mari is one of the masters of Italian Design. He was born in Novara in 1932 and now lives in Milan where he first moved to train as an artist. His work ranges from design to painting, from graphics to installation design. He has been both a university lecturer and a political activist. His characteristic style with its minimal forms and consistent use of materials is considered fundamental to the history of Italian design and the development of its role on the world stage.
