About the Item
A spectacular and monumentally scaled French 19th century Neo-Classical st. ormolu and mirror 'Surtout de Table' centerpiece/plateau. The five piece plateau is raised by striking columns with mottled bases, beautiful scrolled pierced Fleur de Lys and cornucopias with large statement making urns above. A most decorative Vitruvian scroll extends around the plateau below most impressive and richly chased scrolled rinceaux shaped foliate designs flanked by intricately detailed sphinges all in a wonderful satin and burnished finish. At the center are the five original mirror plates. All original gilt throughout.
