French 19th Century Neoclassical Style Porcelain and Gilt Centerpiece Signed R.B

About the Item

An impressive large scale French 19th century Neo-Classical st. cobalt blue porcelain and gilt centerpiece, signed R.B. The centerpiece is raised by a rectangular base with beautiful gilt palmettes and floral designs with a central mask set on a warm cobalt blue background. At the center are striking and wonderfully executed sphinges with their tails intertwined and perched on and a fine cobalt blue tier with most decorative gilt flowers and a mottled border. Above is the striking pierced oval bowl with an elegant and intricately detailed wrap around foliate band and lovely palmette designs. All original gilt throughout.
