French Early 19th Century 1st Empire Period Signed Sterling Silver Lidded Urn

About the Item

An elegant French early 19th century 1st Empire period signed sterling silver lidded urn. The urn is raised by four ball feet below the lovely intricately pierced base decorated with interlocking geometric patterns and fine Coeur de Rai wrap around bands. Above the socle pedestal is the beautiful pierced body which encases the frosted glass bowl. The body displays elegant and finely detailed maidens draped in flowing garments while holding cymbals and wine glasses. At each side are impressive and finely detailed scrolled panther handles which center the lovely removable lid with a charming richly chased butterfly finial. Exquisite detail throughout. Can be used as a caviar server. Hallmarked, J. Boulanger.
