Roberto Sambonet Chrome Centerpiece Serving Bowl Dish with Copper Fern

About the Item

The Italian company Roberto Sambone manufactured this lovely chrome and copper centerpiece, serving dish, or bowl for their 1980s "Graffiti" collection. The shiny chromed metal square design has rounded corners and is decorated with copper and silver plate inlaid floral decor featuring fern branches. The piece is marked inside: "Sambonet - Italy." The centerpiece is in good condition, with minor surface scratches due to regular use. Measurements: 10.25 in wide (26 cm) x 10.25 in deep (26 cm) x 0.82 in high (2 cm). Note: In 1856, after earning a Fine Arts diploma, Giuseppe Sambonet, son of a nobleman from Vercelli, got a Master Goldsmith license and established the company Giuseppe Sambonet, registering the seal bearing the initials "GS" with the mint in Turin. By the early 20th Century, his company was the Official Supplier to many noble families, including the Duchess of Genoa and the Count of Turin. In 1932, Sambonet was the first company in Italy to build an industrial manufacturing plant for sterling silver and galvanic silverware. In 1938, it developed an innovative process of producing stainless steel flatware and a silver-plated steel manufacturing technique. In 1947, it started manufacturing stainless steel knives and blades using its technology. In 1956, Sambonet conquered the international market and bit 53 competitors to supply the Hilton Hotel in Cairo with a hollowware line that remains in its collection today. Today, Sambonet is represented in some of the best hotels and restaurants worldwide. Customers can find Sambonet flatware and hollowware in the leading department stores in the US and Europe. Being part of the Rosenthal family, Sambonet combines Italian design with the German sense of precision and quality. (Credit: Sambonet website)

  • Plate Bowl Centerpiece Tableware Platter Decorated Wall Dish Majolica Painted
    By deBlona
    Located in Recanati, IT
This exclusive ceramic plate is handmade and hand-painted in Italy following the original Renaissance painting technique, unchanged over time, which we observe to the letter: it is decorated in majolica hand-painted in duotone of black and golden yellow, showing an elegant decorative motif of the Deruta tradition which is inspired by a tile found in a local church and suitably reworked in a modern key. The wide brim, with a raised edge and profiled with a finely painted modular ornament, is characterized by an extensive decorative border band where the traditional peacock feather motifs are represented, decorated with delicate shades of golden yellow shaded with cerium white. Naturalistic decorations are depicted inside the large cable, arranged in specular and radial symmetry which branches off from a central hexagonal element and articulates around the circumference, forming elegant golden yellow raceme motifs that stand out against a black background. Our majolica plate can be used as a fancy centerpiece or it can be hung as a decorative wall dish...
