About the Item
A stunning early work dating form the late 19th century from the South Western Sahara region of Morocco by the Touareg peoples. Impressive in scale, with intricate copper mounted silver panel reliefs cut into diametric shapes and etched by hand. Hand carved from local cedar wood with the most beautiful patina. Originally used to hold displays of figs and citrus fruits in entrance halls and vestibules, or hung by the large cast iron rings, sometimes mounted as a wall decorative artwork. This piece can also be used as a low table or as the most wonderful centrepiece.
