About the Item

An important ceramic plate by Mexican artist Alejandro Colunga. Series 14 / 15. The plate is an assemble of different ceramic pieces depicting fish and a dog head. Signed and dated 1980. Alejandro Colunga (b. 1948) is a Mexican painter and sculptor from Guadalajara, Jalisco. Self-taught as an artist, he studied architecture, music and anthropology. His work is related to the Latin American tradition of surrealism. His vital expresionism and his creative imagination are the reflexion of his obsessions, dreams and hallucinations. All his images are part of a system without structure nor symmetry. Plate's dimensions: 7 x 33.5 cm. Ø Frame's dimensions: 51.5 x 51.5 x 9 cm.
