David Gilhooly (1943-2013) Frog Ice Cream Sundae 1983 Glazed Earthenware 9.5 w x 4 d x 9.5 h in David Gilhooly (1943–2013) was an American ceramic sculptor and key figure in the Funk Art movement of the 1960s. Born in California, and student of Robert Arneson at UC Davis, he became best known for his whimsical “FrogWorld” series, where frogs humorously inhabit human roles and settings. His avant-garde works are represented in major collections including the Whitney Museum of American Art and the Smithsonian American Art Museum.
