About the Item
We kindly suggest that you read the whole description, as with it we try to give you detailed technical and historical information to guarantee the authenticity of our objects.
Particular and original German colored ceramic jug; it has an innovative and modernist shape; the beautiful and vibrant colors are balanced and proportioned respecting a minimalist design; the glazing of the jug was obtained by first laying down one color, proceeding to fix it by firing in the kiln, then the same process was performed for the other colors; very difficult to achieve is the speckled coloring, beautiful is the dripping effect of the vibrant shade of red. The mark on the bottom tells us that the object was created in a limited series, the jug is number 484, and 21 is the model number; it was produced in Germany between 1968 and 1971 by the Scheurich Company (see sticker label); founded in 1928 by visionary Alois Scheurich, this German company took the art world by storm. Specializing in decorative and functional ceramic vases and jugs, they have gained a cult following among collectors and enthusiasts. Their objects are true masterpieces, showcasing impeccable craftsmanship, unique designs, and revolutionary glazing techniques. Each model they create tells its own captivating story, with distinctive features and fascinating motifs... "Fat lava" is the name given to a certain style of West German art pottery popularized in the post-war period characterized by an extravagant amount of typical shapes, glazes, textures, and colors ranging from dark brown to orange, forest green to cobalt blue, ruby red to canary yellow; the production strategy of the artisans of this style involved rather simple and strict shapes that in combination of all the different decorations and colored glazes resulted in a very wide range of pieces. Our jug is presented with beautiful and harmonious proportions, and because of this strong personality, it can be placed in any style of decor. The pitcher is in excellent condition. Measures diameter cm,22, height cm.24. For all our shipments we use special packaging materials (wooden crates, styrofoam, etc.) for maximum protection and safety of the objects.

Peculiar and original German ceramic jug colored with a beautiful shade of red, black, and a vivid orange; it has a simple shape but at the same time innovative and modernist; the beautiful and vivid colors are balanced and proportioned respecting a minimalist design; the glazing of the jar was obtained by first laying down one color, proceeding to fix it by firing it in a kiln, then the same procedure was performed for the other colors; on the bottom bears the traditional mark found on this type of object, indicating that the object was created in a limited series with the jug number and the model number; unfortunately, on our jug this mark is barely legible, but it exists and allows us to say that this object was produced between 1968 and 1971 in a craft workshop in the city of Dresden (then in East Germany), an important center of porcelain and ceramic production.
