George Jones Majolica 'Lotus' Flower Plate, English, ca. 1869

About the Item

George Jones Majolica Lotus Plate, naturalistically molded as overlapping lily pads and lotus leaves, with a central relief-molded pink and yellow lotus flower on turquoise-glazed water, the reverse glazed in tortoiseshell mottling, with impressed British Registry Diamond for 9 March 1869. The design was patented on 1 December 1869 as 'LOTUS,' Patent number 236756. Documented in the Karmason Library of the Majolica International Society, Number KL001702, with the designation 'Rare.'
