About

A two-color, glazed earthenware vase by the French ceramic artist Gilbert Valentin (1928-2001) with a modernist design. A master of glazes, Valentin uses striking canary yellow and burnt orange glazes against a gritty black ground to combine a strong, abstract design with an elegant form. Clearly marked "G. Valentin Les Archanges Vallauris" with the winged Les Archanges pottery logo. A scarce business card from the Archanges atelier is included.
