Goldscheider Art Déco Figure 'Daisy' Young Lady With Guitar, Stephan Dakon 1930
About the Item
Very rare art ceramic figurine from the early 1930s:
Standing young lady with a pullman cap and bob hairstyle, head turned to the left, in a long-sleeved shirt with wide sleeves and long, straight trousers with creases, checkered scarf, a guitar tucked under the right arm that is hanging down, the left hand in the trouser pocket.
On a cream octagonal base, with irregular stone base decoration, artist's signature 'Dakon' on top, behind the figure.
This design reflects the so-called 'Garconne Mode', which was a popular, male-style women's fashion from 1924 until after 1928. Suit jackets in men's style and Paletot coats and the typical bob haircut were characteristic of this trend.
Designed by Stefan Dakon (1904 - 1992), one of the most important designers who worked for the Goldscheider manufactory from 1924 until the mid-fifties.
Dakon designed model 6074 circa 1930.
