About the Item

Harris G. Strong (1920-2006) Harris G. Strong was born in Waukesha, Wisconsin where his aunt owned a greeting card company, which influenced his artistic pursuits. He also had a strong scientific proclivity, and was meticulous about the "engineering" of his tiles, which featured many innovations. During the war, he was a cryptographer, working directly under General Douglas MacArthur during World War II. Afterward, he studied ceramics and the chemistry of ceramic glazes at North Carolina State University, later working in Brooklyn, New York at Kelby Pottery. His own business became successful with showrooms in Chicago, New York and Tokyo. This exquisite piece has a colorway and sentimentality that is immediately captivating and affecting. A beautiful piece that could be wall displayed as it does have pottery openings that could be secured with hardware (hardware not included). DIMENSIONS 10.25ʺW × 4.25ʺD × 1.25ʺH
